Cameron Crowe to return to "Elizabethtown"
Writer-Director Brings His New Film to Kentucky
FRANKFORT, Ky. - Governor Ernie Fletcher today announced that writer-director Cameron Crowe will return to Kentucky for the premiere of his new Paramount Pictures film, “Elizabethtown.”
“One of our goals when we went to Los Angeles was to ensure that “Elizabethtown” received special treatment in Kentucky,” said Governor Fletcher. “We are grateful to Paramount and to Cameron Crowe for making that happen. We’re pleased that Mr. Crowe has spoken so highly of his Kentucky experience to other film makers, since we work to lure more film production to the Commonwealth.”
On Saturday, Sept. 17, Crowe will host a premiere in Elizabethtown, the town that lends its name to the title of the film. Following an 11:30 a.m. lunchtime barbeque, guests will attend the 1 p.m. screening at Elizabethtown’s Movie Palace, 1231 Woodland Drive.
That evening, Orlando Bloom, the star of the film, will join Crowe in Louisville for a 7 p.m. at the Showcase Cinema de Lux, 9700 Preston Crossing Blvd., and after-party at the Brown Hotel (which plays itself in the film), 335 West Broadway.
Crowe said, “I promised the people of Louisville and Elizabethtown that I would return with the movie – I’m so happy to be keeping that promise. These folks went out of their way to show us kindness and warmth of spirit as we shot our film and I’m thrilled that we’re able to repay them with a special screening.”
The day after the screenings in Kentucky, Crowe and Bloom will drive down the I-65 corridor – which also plays a role in the film – in a wrapped “Elizabethtown” bus for a third premiere in nearby Nashville. Co-hosted by Country Music Television, the event will feature live performances by Patty Griffin and I Nine (both of whom provide music for the film’s soundtrack).
“Elizabethtown” will be released in theaters nationwide on Oct. 14.
A uniquely crafted comedy set in the key of life, “Elizabethtown” is the story of an unexpected romance that develops against the backdrop of a hilariously elaborate memorial. It’s a heartfelt journey that proves amazing things can happen when you least expect them.
