Governor Ernie Fletcher’s Communication Office
Communications Director Resigns
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Carla Blanton, who has served as Governor Ernie Fletcher’s communications director since April, has submitted her resignation.
“It has been an honor to participate in important achievements that the Governor has accomplished on behalf of the people of Kentucky, such as the budget and tax modernization,” Blanton said. “Unfortunately, this service – particularly the last 3.5 months – has taken a toll on me physically and personally. It is for those reasons that I will be seeking new career opportunities.
“I appreciate the opportunity I have had this past year to work for a Governor who is guided by faith and grounded in a steadfast commitment to move this commonwealth forward.”
Blanton began working for the Governor’s office last October, when she left her job with the Louisville Metro Council to become communications director for Budget Director Brad Cowgill. During that time, she worked on communications efforts on the budget and tax modernization, which were two key legislative initiatives for Governor Fletcher during the last session.
Blanton then began her role as communications director for the Governor on April 25.
“I chose Carla as my communications director because of her strong communications background and experience,” Governor Fletcher said. “She has done an outstanding job – particularly during the challenges of the last few months.”
