Governor Fletcher takes to the airwaves to encourage Kentuckians to support hurricane relief efforts
Toll-free hotline set up for Kentuckians to make donations and volunteer
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher is taking to the airwaves to encourage Kentuckians to support relief efforts from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Governor Fletcher is featured in a 60-second PSA being distributed to Kentucky radio and television stations to promote a toll-free number set up for Kentuckians to call to make donations or to volunteer in relief efforts.
“Hundreds of evacuees from Louisiana and Mississippi whose lives have been devastated are now in our care here in our state,” Governor Fletcher said in the PSA. “Because so many of you have called to help, the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross have set up a Bluegrass hotline to make sure your donations count.”
Kentuckians who want to donate money, food, and clothing or donate their time are asked to call the toll-free line at 1-800-618-1689. Donations can also be accepted through the main website for Kentucky state government at www.kentucky.gov.
