Governor Fletcher appoints members to Kentucky State University Board of Regents
V. Jeffery Alston, Edward Scott Willis accept appointments
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has announced the appointment of V. Jeffrey Alston and Edward Scott Willis to the Kentucky State University Board of Regents.
A self-employed Louisville attorney, Alston received his bachelor’s degree from Howard University and his juris doctorate from the University of Kentucky. He previously served as an Ordnance Corps Captain in the United States Army, and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Howard University Alumni Association, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Kentucky Bar Association Long-Range Planning Committee, the University of Kentucky College of Law Alumni Association, the National Bar Association, Ye Ole Esquire Club and J.B.B. Delphi club.
Willis received his bachelor’s degree from Kentucky State University and his master’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Willis is vice-president of emerging markets (Mid Atlantic Region) for First Horizon Home Loan Corporation. A resident of Maryland, Willis founded the Alpha Alumni for Excellence at Kentucky University in 2003. He is a member of the KSU Alumni Association’s D.C. chapter. He is married to Tricia Kerney Willis.
On August 17, 2005, the bipartisan Postsecondary Education Nominating Committee delivered a list of nominees for these positions to the Governor. Appointees were chosen from a list of nominees. Each gubernatorial appointment will serve a term of six years.
