Governor Fletcher announces collaboration with FEMA and HUD to assist families affected by Hurricane Katrina
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher, through the Kentucky Housing Corporation, is working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the state's Federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) office to assist families adversely affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Currently these organizations are working to identify rent-assisted and federally funded housing units in Kentucky that could be available to provide housing for displaced individuals. Given this emergency, the federal government has waived certain program requirements associated with these units in order to more readily house those displaced by the crisis.
