Governor Ernie Fletcher makes appointments to the Land Between the Lakes Advisory Board
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed two members and an alternate to the Land Between the Lakes Advisory Board. They are:
- Marvin Lee Wilson, of Eddyville, an attorney and owner of Wilson Law Firm, PLLC in Eddyville. Wilson has served as an adjunct professor for Murray State University and Hopkinsville Community College for 20 years. He is from the area that is now the Land Between the Lakes, having been raised on a farm between the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. Wilson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture and his juris doctorate from Southern Illinois University School of Law. He is a member of the Caldwell-Lyon County Free Clinic Board of Directors, the Twin Cities Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Trout Unlimited and the National Rifle Association. In addition, Wilson serves as secretary/treasurer of the Lyon County Development Corporation and president of the Lyon County Public Properties Corporation. Wilson and his wife, Laura, have been married for 32 years and have three children.
- Vernon Ray Anderson, of Murray, a retired regional wildlife biologist. Anderson received a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from Murray State University. He is a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation Board of Directors, the Land Between the Lakes Association, the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. In addition, Anderson serves as the district chairman of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He is married to Brenda Anderson.
- Bobby H. Cassity, of Cadiz, who will serve as an alternate to the board. Cassity is a retired school administrator for Trigg County School System. He received his bachelor’s degree in business and his master’s in secondary education from Murray State University. Cassity is a member and chairman of the Housing Authority of Cadiz. He is married to Regena Cassity.
The Land Between the Lakes Advisory Board was created in accordance with the Land Between the Lakes Protection Act of 1998 and the Federal Advisory Committee Act. The board advises the secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture on the means of promoting public participation, resource management and environmental education for the Land Between the Lakes. The board is made up of 17 voting members, two of whom are appointed by the governor of Kentucky. An alternate is appointed to fill any vacancy created by one of the two primary members.
