FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Kellie Ellis and Bridget Stanfield as the newest members of the Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. 

Ellis, of Harlan, is a speech-language pathologist for the Harlan County School System.  She is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders.  She continued her education by obtaining a master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Cincinnati.  Ellis is currently pursuing a doctorate in rehabilitation sciences from the University of Kentucky.  A member of the Head Start Community Partners Focus Group, Ellis received the 2004 Kentucky Public School Relations Association’s OASIS award for commentary/feature writing.  She is married to Mark Ellis. 

Stanfield, of Harrodsburg, is a speech-language pathologist for Ephraim McDowell Health.  Stanfield is a 1994 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a master’s degree in communication disorders.  She has also completed certification programs from Eastern Kentucky University, earning a Rank 1 and a certificate of educational administration. 

The Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is made up of eight gubernatorial appointees. The board is charged with examining the qualifications of those who seek state licensure.  Ellis and Stanfield will represent speech-language pathologists as members of the board.
