Boyd County Man Arrested Following Child Pornography Investigations in Ohio, Kentucky

Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the arrest of a Boyd County man following cybercrimes investigations in Ohio and Kentucky. General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit arrested 40-year-old Thomas Sellers on Friday, July 20 on eight counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Sellers was taken into custody after the execution of a search warrant at his Catlettsburg, Ky. residence.

Sellers entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment today in Boyd District Court and is currently lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. Sellers' next court appearance will be a preliminary hearing on August 1.

The charges against Sellers stem from an undercover investigation by the Ohio Attorney General's office which identified a computer that possessed images of child sexual abuse. A subpoena revealed that the subscriber resided in Boyd County, Ky. Agents from the Ohio Attorney General's Computer Crimes Unit referred their findings to General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit for further investigation.

Since its creation in June of 2008, General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit has launched nearly 300 child pornography investigations, seized more than 322,000 child pornographic images and videos and won more than 100 child pornography convictions. The unit is also a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).
