Attorney General Jack Conway and his Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) today announced the sentencing of a Bourbon County man for possession of child pornography. Larry S. Maitland, of Paris, was sentenced on Jan.14 to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of possession of child pornography.

Maitland was arrested by the Paris Police Department on June 29, 2009 following an investigation by DCI’s Cybercrimes Unit, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).  On August 14, 2009, Maitland withdrew his plea of not guilty and pled guilty to the charges.

“I appreciate the hard work of the investigators in my Cybercrimes Unit and the other agencies that assisted us in the handling and prosecution of this case,” said General Conway. “Since its creation in June 2008, my Cybercrimes Unit has seized more than 41,800 child pornographic images and has 85 active cases. We are truly putting a dent in child pornography and making the Internet a safer place for  Kentucky kids.”

Prosecution of this case was handled by Commonwealth’s Attorney Gordie Shaw, representing Bourbon, Woodford and Scott Counties.
