Attorney General Conway Issues Opinion on Effective Date of Legislation Passed in 2009 Kentucky General Assembly
Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that as is customary, his office has issued a legal opinion on the effective date of legislation passed during the regular session of the Kentucky General Assembly. According to the opinion, laws passed during the session will become effective on June 25, 2009
The Legislative Research Commission requests an opinion at the end of each session. In accordance with Section 55 of the Constitution of Kentucky, the effective date of legislation, except for general appropriation measures and those containing emergency or delayed effective date provisions, is 90 days after the final adjournment of the session. The 2009 General Assembly adjourned on March 26, 2009.
