- Urban Outfitters Halts Line of Prescription Products after Plea from Attorneys General
Tuesday, June 18, 2013 National retailer Urban Outfitters is halting sales of a line of products that mimic prescription pill bottles and prescription pads following a plea from Attorney General Jack Conway and 23 of his colleagues. In a recent statement to the media, Urban Outfitters announced it would discontinue its "Prescription Line" of products due to its "misinterpretation."

Monday, June 17, 2013 Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictments of William Qualls and Linda Smith for allegedly defrauding the Kentucky Medicaid Program. Qualls and Smith, who worked as caregivers for a disabled Medicaid recipient, are each charged with Devising or Engaging in a Scheme to Defraud the Kentucky Medicaid Program and Theft by Unlawful Taking Over $500 but under $10,000.
- McCracken County, Kentucky, Man Sentenced to 240 Months in Prison for Distribution and Possession of Child Pornography
Monday, June 17, 2013 A McCracken County, Kentucky man was sentenced today, by Senior Judge Thomas B. Russell, in United States District Court, to 240 months in prison, followed by a life-time term of supervised release for violating child pornography laws, announced David J. Hale, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.
- Paintsville Doctor Sentenced to 75 Months for Pill Conspiracy
Monday, June 17, 2013 A former Paintsville, Ky., doctor, who previously admitted that he unlawfully dispensed approximately 50,000 prescription pills to individuals in Eastern Kentucky, was sentenced today to 75 months in prison, to be followed by three years supervised release.

Wednesday, June 05, 2013 Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Special Prosecutions today announced the guilty plea of a Bullitt County Constable on multiple drug charges. Forty-three-year-old Clifton Hudson pled guilty in Bullitt Circuit Court today to one count of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia, following his arrest on May 28 for selling heroin to a confidential informant at his Mt. Washington home.

Friday, April 26, 2013 Attorney General Jack Conway announced today that his Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control Division has filed a civil lawsuit against Elizabethtown osteopath Dr. Canh Jeff Vo for filing false claims with the Kentucky Medicaid program. The lawsuit alleges that Dr. Vo inserted foreign Mirena® intrauterine devices (IUDs) that had not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration into Kentucky Medicaid recipients. Dr. Vo purchased the non-FDA approved IUDs over the Internet and illegally imported them into the United States. The lawsuit further alleges that Dr. Vo did not inform his patients that they were receiving non-FDA approved IUDs.

Monday, March 25, 2013 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the arrest of a Lexington, Ky. man following an investigation by his Cybercrimes Branch. General Conway's investigators arrested 25-year-old Erik Hentzen on Friday, March 22 on two counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Hentzen was released from the Fayette County Detention Center after posting a $5,000 cash bond. He'll be arraigned in Fayette District Court on March 27 at 1 p.m.

Tuesday, March 12, 2013 Attorney General Jack Conway today joined 37 other states and the District of Columbia in announcing a $7 million settlement with Google over privacy concerns involving the capture of consumers' and businesses' private WiFi data by its Street View service. Google's Street View program used specially equipped vehicles to capture images between 2008 and 2010 for use in Google's future geolocation services. However, it was later discovered that these vehicles were also collecting information from unsecured WiFi networks as they rolled by homes and businesses on public streets.

Monday, March 11, 2013 Generic versions of popular pain relievers must be made harder to abuse, Attorney General Jack Conway and 47 other state and territorial Attorneys General told federal officials in a letter sent today by the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG). The letter encourages the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to adopt standards requiring manufacturers and marketers of generic prescription painkillers to develop tamper- and abuse-resistant versions of their products.

Thursday, February 21, 2013 Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that the nation's five largest mortgage servicers continue to provide direct relief to homeowners in Kentucky and across the country as part of the historic national mortgage foreclosure settlement. According to the third post-settlement report released today by the independent settlement monitor, 1,562 Kentucky homeowners received more than $55.5 million in settlement-related relief from Ally/GMAC, Bank of America, Citi, Chase and Wells Fargo through December 31, 2012. Borrowers received an average of $35,534 in assistance.

The lawsuit filed yesterday in Franklin Circuit Court alleges that GSK violated Kentucky's Consumer Protection Act by engaging in deceptive advertising, overstating the effectiveness of Avandia and hiding the drug's risks from Kentuckians.

(VPI) to resolve allegations of an illegal kickback scheme. VPI paid the states and federal government $12.2 million in civil damages to compensate Medicaid, Medicare and various federal healthcare programs for harm suffered as a result of its conduct.

Monday, February 11, 2013 Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Special Prosecutions today announced that a Trigg County jury has recommended the maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole in the retrial of 42-year-old George Luna for the 2007 death of a Marshall County woman. Luna also received 20 years in prison on a charge of first degree arson, which by law must run concurrent with the life sentence.

Thursday, January 03, 2013 Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Criminal Appeals announce a ruling today by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in the Michael Carneal case. The unanimous opinion upholds a July 12, 2011 ruling by the U.S District Court for the Western District of Kentucky denying Carneal's request to withdraw his guilty plea in the 1997 Heath High School shooting that left three students dead and five others wounded.
