Monday, February 06, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that Kentucky joined with 18 other states in a settlement with NCO Financial Systems, Inc. (NCOF) to resolve concerns about NCOF's debt collection practices. The settlement was filed today in Franklin Circuit Court.
- Grand Jury Indicts Former Employee of Breathitt County Sheriff's Office on Felony Charges
Friday, February 03, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictment of a former employee of the Breathitt County Sheriff's department on multiple felony charges. A grand jury indicted 36-year-old Crystal Southwood, the daughter of Breathitt County Sheriff Ray Clemons, on 28 counts of forgery and one count of abuse of public trust following an investigation by General Conway's Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI). All of the charges are Class D felonies.

- Hardin County Jury Recommends Death for Convicted Serial Killer Michael St. Clair
Monday, January 23, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Special Prosecutions announced that a Hardin County jury has issued a unanimous verdict of death for Michael St. Clair after being convicted on capital kidnapping and other charges in connection with 1991 abduction and murder of Frank Brady. The jury returned its penalty verdict late Friday, January 20, 2012 after a three-week trial and less than two hours of deliberations. The Hardin Circuit Court jury was empanelled following a reversal by the Kentucky Supreme Court in 2010 on an evidentiary ruling.

Monday, January 23, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictment and arrest of a former nurse at the Cumberland Valley Manor Nursing Home in Burkesville, Ky. on charges of neglect of an adult and theft of a controlled substance. A Cumberland County grand jury indicted 41-year-old Jinger Butler on January 19, 2012 on 11 counts of neglect and 11 counts of theft of a controlled substance following an investigation by General Conway's Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control and the Burkesville Police Department. Members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office took Butler into custody on January 21. She was released on her own recognizance.

Monday, January 23, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway is joining the attorneys general from nine other states in seeking information about the recent data breach at Zappos.com, Inc. that affected more than 24 million customers nationwide. In a letter written by Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen to Zappos.com, the attorneys general ask the online retailer to provide details about the company's actions in response to the breach and its efforts to protect consumers' sensitive information.

Friday, January 06, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway is alerting consumers about a new telemarketing scam that is making its way across Kentucky. General Conway's Office of Consumer Protection has received more than two dozen complaints since mid-November about a "Tech Support" telemarketing scam. Consumers report that the scammers impersonate tech support specialists who claim to have detected a virus on the victims' computer.

Corso, Special Agent in Charge, DEA, jointly announced today the guilty plea in federal court of a Paintsville, Ky. doctor accused of fraudulently dispensing prescription pills in Eastern Kentucky. Dr. Richard Albert, 64, pled guilty today in U.S. District Court in Pikeville to conspiring to distribute and dispense controlled substances.

Monday, December 12, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that his office will again host training for police officers and local prosecutors about the effective prosecution of DUI cases at a regional seminar on Wednesday, December 14 through Friday, December 16 at the Hilton Suites at Lexington Green in Lexington, Ky. The training is coordinated through the Office of the Attorney General's (OAG) Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Program. The goal of the training is to create a team-building approach in the detection, apprehension and prosecution of impaired drivers.

Monday, December 12, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the guilty plea in federal court of a Louisville man who sent child pornography to the Attorney General's office. Andrew Edwards was charged with sending an email message from United Kentucky Liberation Front to the Kentucky Attorney General's Office, consumer protection division on August 6, 2010.

Thursday, December 08, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the arrest of a Kenton County man on child pornography charges. Sixty-one-year-old Glenn Hurtt of Covington, Ky. was arrested by Covington Police on December 5, 2011 on one count of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and three counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

Thursday, December 08, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway, Kerry B. Harvey, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky and the FBI jointly announce the guilty plea of a Lexington man on one count of distribution of child pornography. Thirty-seven-year-old William K. Hainsworth, a registered sex offender, pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Lexington yesterday. The charges against Hainsworth were the result of an investigation by General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit and the FBI. Prosecution of this case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney's office for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

- Madison County Man Indicted in Child Pornography Case Following Attorney General's Investigation
Wednesday, December 07, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the arrest and indictment of a Madison County man for possession of child pornography. A Madison County grand jury today indicted 36-year-old James Rogers, a former Richmond Police officer, on 10 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor following an investigation by General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit. Cybercrimes investigators, with assistance from Kentucky State Police, arrested Rogers on Tuesday, December 6 at his Richmond, Ky. home following the execution of a search warrant. Rogers is currently lodged in the Madison County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Friday, November 04, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway announced the indictment today of nine people on charges of conspiracy to buy votes in the May 2010 primary elections in Breathitt County. The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury in Lexington, follows an investigation by Attorney General Conway's Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the FBI. In addition to the conspiracy allegation, all nine defendants allegedly paid individuals for their votes.

Sixty-nine year old James F. Tackett of Jenkins entered the guilty plea today in Letcher Circuit Court, where he was scheduled to stand trial.

Friday, October 21, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that Kentucky has reached a settlement with pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, Inc. over allegations of illegal off-label marketing of its urology drug Detrol. The settlement concludes a government investigation into the allegations that the company engaged in off-label marketing schemes to promote the sales of Detrol for uses that were not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The settlement will return $152,607 to the state's Medicaid program.

Thursday, October 20, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictment of a certified instructor in Kentucky's Alcohol Related Offenders Program (AROP) on charges he falsified public records. A Franklin County grand jury yesterday indicted 39-year-old Timothy Monhollen of Lexington on three counts of tampering with public records for allegedly falsifying entries in DUI Program Completion Forms. Monhollen is a certified DUI assessor and DUI instructor in Boyle, Fayette, Jessamine, Lincoln and Mercer counties.

A Lawrence County grand jury today indicted Lee Adam Balaklaw on 20 counts of Medicaid fraud, in violation of KRS 205.8463(1), following an investigation into his billing practices at Anesthesia Associates of Louisa, P.S.C. The charges are Class D felonies.

Kentucky State Police (KSP) in Hazard arrested 31-year-old Martin Mosley and 23-year-old Clarissa Mosley on Wednesday, September 14 following their indictment on one count of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and 61 counts of complicity to possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, all are Class D felonies.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictment and arrest of a former employee of Community Alternatives of Kentucky-Somerset in connection with the abuse of a mentally disabled male resident. Officers with the Burnside Police Department arrested 33-year-old James S. Smith yesterday on a charge of knowing abuse of an adult, a Class C felony that carries a penalty of between five to ten years imprisonment. The charges against Smith stem from an investigation by General Conway's Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control.

Boyle Circuit Judge Darren Peckler yesterday sentenced 46-year-old Terry Alan Hadley, a photographer in Danville, to seven years in prison. The case against Hadley was the result of an investigation by General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit.
