Governor and First Lady Participate in Annual Lighting of the Commonwealth Christmas Tree

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher and First Lady Glenna Fletcher brightened up the Capitol tonight with the annual lighting of the Commonwealth Christmas Tree.

"This is a long-standing tradition that the Governor and I are happy to participate in," said Mrs. Fletcher. "As always, we invite everyone to visit the state’s Capitol. It is especially beautiful during the holiday season."

Other holiday events open to the public are:

  • My Old Kentucky Tree – located on the second floor balcony of the Capitol Rotunda. It will be on display throughout the month of December during normal Capitol hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Please note the Capitol will be closed Dec. 23, 26, 30 and 31. Admission is free. 
  • The Governor’s Mansion is also decorated for the holidays. It is open for tours every Tuesday and Thursday through Dec. 29 from 9 to 11 a.m. Admission is free.
