First Lady Participates in "Read To Me" Day at Cannonsburg Elementary
FRANKFORT, Ky., Nov. 9, 2005 -- First Lady Glenna Fletcher participated in Kentucky Power’s “Read To Me” Day by reading to the third grade class of Cannonsburg Elementary School in Ashland today.
Mrs. Fletcher read “Saturdays and Teacakes” by Lester Laminack to approximately 30 students. After the reading, she toured the school with Debbie Gould, principal of Cannonsburg Elementary, and executives from American Electric Power.
For the second year, Kentucky Power Company, a unit of American Electric Power, is sponsoring a team of employee volunteers to read to local elementary schools as part of “Read to Me Day.” Approximately 40 company employees and First Lady Fletcher will visit schools in Boyd, Pike and Perry counties reading to hundreds of students emphasizing the joy of reading.
First Lady Glenna Fletcher is committed to working with issues she feels will make a difference in the lives of Kentucky families.
