FRANKFORT, Ky., Nov. 8, 2005 -- First Lady Glenna Fletcher spent this morning in Georgetown reading to first graders and speaking to the Scott County Elementary Gifted Program.

Mrs. Fletcher began her day at Anne Mason Elementary with two first-grade classes, where she read a popular Clifford book, “Leaf Season.”

The First Lady then went to Georgetown College to meet with a group of fifth grade students from all over Georgetown. This group, which has been identified as gifted in leadership skills, heard Mrs. Fletcher explain what it’s like serving as the First Lady of Kentucky and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.

First Lady Glenna Fletcher is committed to working with issues she feels will make a difference in the lives of Kentucky families. The health of Kentuckians and the education of our children are two of her primary focuses. Get Healthy Kentucky!, Read to Achieve, Go Red for Women and the Celebrate Your Birthday with a Mammogram are just some of the many initiatives the First Lady supports.
