Governor and First Lady Invite Trick-or-Treaters to the Governor's Mansion on Halloween
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Governor Ernie Fletcher and First Lady Glenna Fletcher will continue a first family tradition this year as they welcome area youngsters to the Governor’s Mansion for Halloween trick-or-treating. The festivities are scheduled to last from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
As an extra treat this year, trick-or-treaters and their chaperones will be invited inside the Governor’s Mansion. Besides the traditional Halloween decorations that usually adorn the Mansion’s exterior, the rooms inside the Mansion will also be decorated for the occasion with fun and festive Halloween ornaments and characters.
The Governor and First Lady will be on hand to welcome their costumed visitors with special treat bags made up of traditional Halloween candies and homemade treats from the Mansion’s kitchen. An extra surprise from the First Dog Abby will be included as well.
“Ernie and I love seeing the children dressed in their costumes. It’s obvious that a lot of hard work and extra attention went into many of them. Some of them are very creative,” Mrs. Fletcher said. “It’s also a great opportunity for us to say hello to our neighbors and provide a safe and comfortable place for the children on Halloween night. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled evening.”
