Office of the Attorney General Announces Plea Agreement in Stewart Case
The Office of the Attorney General announced today that a plea agreement has been reached in the case against Judge William F. Stewart and his wife, Sarah Belle Dutton.
Under the terms of a plea agreement, Stewart (former Shelby, Spencer and Anderson County Circuit Judge) is permanently prohibited from judicial service. Sarah Belle Dutton has entered pleas of guilty to charges of Theft and Unlawful Access to the Administrative Office of The Courts (AOC) computer system.
Dutton received a sentence of twelve months discharged for a period of two years on the condition that she commit no further violations of the law.
