Attorney General Greg Stumbo Names Commonwealth’s Attorney
Attorney General Greg Stumbo announced today that he has appointed Dawn Stacy as Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit (Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton and Hickman counties.) She replaces Tim Langford who was appointed by Governor Ernie Fletcher as Circuit Judge for the 1st Judicial Circuit.
Pursuant to KRS 15.715(4) the Attorney General has authority to name a designee to “perform the duties of that office until such time as the successor of the Commonwealth’s Attorney…shall be appointed or elected as elsewhere provided by law…”
Ms. Stacy is an attorney from Kevil, Kentucky. A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Stacy has practiced law since 1989 and has been an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for 8 years. Stacy and her husband, Mike Stacy, the Ballard County Attorney, have an 11-year-old son. Her appointment as Commonwealth’s Attorney is effective November 8th, 2006.
“Dawn is a respected legal professional and I am confident she will serve the 1st Judicial Circuit well,” said Attorney General Stumbo.
