ATV Riders Headed to Harlan This Weekend
EVARTS, Ky. – A herd of all-terrain vehicle riders is expected to descend on the Black Mountain Recreational Park in Harlan County this weekend for the Harlan County Ridge Runners ATV Club “Summer Stampede.”
Starting Friday June 15 at 9 a.m., the event will feature several ATV competitions, including a sled pull, timed drag race, obstacle course, dash for cash and mud bog, as well as trail riding and camping in the park at Evarts, about 10 miles northeast of Harlan.
Entry fees are $5 per event or $20 to participate in all competitions. First place finishers will receive trophies, while second and third place riders will receive ribbons.
There will be ATV and food vendors’ displays, as well as an ATV/camping yard sale. Guided trail rides will be held Friday and Saturday. Most of the competitions will take place on Saturday. On Sunday riders will be able to explore the park on their own. Sunday will also be a rain day.
