Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes issued an urgent reminder today to Kentucky businesses to meet a key September 11 deadline or face administrative dissolution or revocation of authority to do business in the Commonwealth.

Grimes, who is Kentucky’s Chief Business Official, directed her message to business entities that did not file their annual report and pay the $15 filing fee by June 30. Following a 60-day notice sent by Grimes’ office, those businesses now face a compliance deadline of Sept. 11.

Both the annual report and filing fee are required by Kentucky law.

Pre-populated 2015 annual reports, which include information provided in previous filings, are available on the Secretary of State’s website. Filing online saves both businesses and the state time and money, although entities may also file and pay in person or via U.S. mail.

To date, approximately 90 percent of entities have fulfilled the requirement for 2015, with almost 73 percent filing online.

The filing requirement applies to all corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited liability partnerships, business trusts and professional service corporations registered in the Commonwealth. All entities were sent reminders before the June 30 deadline, and those who failed to timely file were also sent a final 60-day notice.
