Secretary Grimes Announces State Board of Elections Special Meeting

Kentucky’s Secretary of State and Chief Election Official, Alison Lundergan Grimes, announced today that the State Board of Elections will be in session from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on May 22, 2012, and it will conduct a special board meeting at 1:00 p.m. on that date.

The State Board of Elections, of which Grimes is Chair, administers election laws in the Commonwealth and oversees county boards of election, which are required by statute to stay in session on election days. The State Board accordingly will convene when voting commences on Election Day and remain in session during all hours polls are open.

As required by KRS 61.823, the agenda for the special meeting is attached. The State Board will convene at the State Board of Elections located at 140 Walnut Street, Frankfort, Kentucky.
