With Primary Election Day less than one week away, Secretary of State and Chief Election Official Alison Lundergan Grimes urges voters to educate themselves about the candidates for whom they are eligible to vote. “Voting is a responsibility all Kentuckians should take seriously,” said Grimes. “I encourage voters to educate themselves about the candidates and make informed choices on May 22nd.”

Offices on the primary ballot this year include:

• President of the United States
• United States Representative
• State Senator (odd districts)
• State Representative
• Judge of the Court of Appeals, 4th District, 1st Division
• Commonwealth’s Attorney
• Circuit Clerk
• Mayor
• City Legislative Body Member
• Lexington/Fayette Urban County Council Member (district-specific)
• Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Legislative Council Member (even districts)

There may also be local referenda and races for municipal, school board, or local offices with unexpired terms on the ballot, so Secretary Grimes encourages voters to review the ballot and familiarize themselves with the candidates before heading to the polls. Sample ballots are available on the State Board of Elections’ website, elect.ky.gov, and information about candidates who filed with the Secretary of State is available on the Secretary of State’s website, sos.ky.gov.
