Secretary Grimes Announces Filing Deadline For Unexpired Terms
Candidates for two offices that file with the Secretary of State and have unexpired terms will be nominated at the May 19, 2015, Primary Election, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced today.
Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Will T. Scott resigned from the state’s high court last week, leaving an unexpired term in the 7th Supreme Court District. Commonwealth’s Attorney G.L. Ovey in the 56th Judicial Circuit retired before his term expired.
All candidates seeking to serve the unexpired term for Supreme Court, 7th District, must file their petitions for nomination by 4 p.m. EST, on January 27, 2015.
Political party candidates for the unexpired term for Commonwealth’s Attorney, 56th Judicial Circuit, must file their candidacy papers by 4 p.m. EST, on January 27, 2015. Independent, political group and political organization candidates for that office must file their petitions for nomination no later than August 11, 2015, at 4 p.m.

Individuals interested in running for an unexpired term of an office that files with the county clerk should contact their county clerks for more information.
