Thursday, May 03, 2012 The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved a proposal by Kentucky Utilities Co. (KU) and Louisville Gas & Electric Co. (LG&E) to construct a 640-megawatt combined cycle generating plant at the Cane Run facility in Jefferson County. The companies also will purchase the 495-megawatt Bluegrass Generation simple cycle power plant in LaGrange in Oldham County.

Friday, March 30, 2012 The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) today granted South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corp. (South Kentucky RECC) an increase of $3.7 million in its annual revenue, less than half the amount requested by the utility.

Wednesday, February 29, 2012 The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved a request by Owen Electric Cooperative Corp. to alter its rate structure to more accurately reflect the cost of serving its residential and small commercial customers. In approving the rates, the PSC said it agreed with Owen Electric that the restructuring will allow the distribution cooperative to maintain financial stability while stepping up efforts to encourage its customers to reduce energy usage. The PSC also approved a request by Owen Electric to offer optional rates that are designed to promote energy efficiency.

The compliance plans are intended to meet the requirements of several U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations affecting coal-burning electric power plants.
