Spring Classic 5K Set For April 14 at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park

BURKESVILLE, Ky. – The second 5K race in the Kentucky State Park Race Series will be held April 14 at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park near Burkesville.

The Spring Classic 5K at Dale Hollow is one of five races scheduled for 2007. The race starts at 9 a.m. CT. Meet at the lodge for registration and information.

The other dates and races are:

May 19 – Barren River 5K at Barren River Lake State Resort Park near Glasgow.

June 16 – Possum Ridge 5K at Taylorsville Lake State Park at Taylorsville.

July 14 – Magnolia 5K at Rough River Dam State Resort Park near Leitchfield.

Runners of all ages who take part in all five races can capture the overall championship which is based on a point system.  Each race has a pre-registration fee of $15 and a race day fee of $20.  Registration for individual races is through each individual park.

Awards will be given to the overall male and female winner of each race and first and second place winners in each male and female division.  The grand prize winners, who must compete in all five races, will be named at the July 14 Magnolia 5K at Rough River.  All of those who run all five races will receive a certificate and be registered for a special giveaway prize.

The first race of the series, the Goose Creek 5K at E.P “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville, attracted more than 80 runners.  Shelley Cameron, 32, of Louisville, was the overall female winner with a time of 20 minutes, 31 seconds. John Campbell, 23, of Crestwood, was the overall male winner with a time of 17:30.
