Exercise Your Imagination in Barren River's Trail of Scarecrows Competition
LUCAS, Ky. -- Barren River Lake State Resort Park is sponsoring a Trail of Scarecrows event aimed at families, schools, businesses and other groups that can apply their imaginations to the task of designing and building these whimsical figures.
The scarecrows will be displayed at the park between Sept. 20 and Oct. 31, 2008. The scarecrows, along with laminated signs indicating the names and builders of the figures, will be placed along the paved trail throughout the park for visitors to see as they hike or bike along the trail. A section of trail is also visible along Park Road, and visitors will be able to see some of them on their drive into the park.
There is a $20 fee per scarecrow for families and schools and a $40 fee for businesses and corporations. One half of the registration fee received for each scarecrow will be donated to the Kentucky Employees Charitable Contributions campaign. Registration deadline is Friday Sept. 12. A $50 Kentucky State Park gift card will be awarded to the builder of the winning scarecrow.
For specific guidelines on registration and scarecrow construction and to receive a registration form, contact Lisa Deavers at 270-464-2151, ext. 2004 or at lisa.deavers@ky.gov
