State Park Poetry Contest Winners Announced
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Winners of the Kentucky State Park Poetry Contest that helped celebrate the 85th anniversary of the park system last year have been announced.
The contest drew 179 entries in three age groups. First place winners received a certificate and a $50 Kentucky State Park gift card; second place finishers received a certificate and a $25 Kentucky State Park gift card; and third place finishers received a certificate and the 2009 book, The Complete Guide to Kentucky State Parks.
The contest was judged by former Kentucky Poet Laureate Richard Taylor, Eastern Kentucky University Professor of Literature Julie Hensley and Kentucky State Park Naturalist Carey Tichenor.

All winners and honorable mentions age 18 and under received a coupon for one free admission to a park fort, museum or historic site of their choice. A display of all winning and honorable mention entries will be on rotating display for public viewing at various parks throughout 2010.
