Several Kentucky State Parks Honored By Kentucky Living

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Several Kentucky State Parks were honored in Kentucky Living magazine’s 2012 Best in Kentucky reader picks contest, published in the April issue.

“It’s gratifying for our guests to support us this way,” Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker said. “We appreciate them and look forward to having them visit our parks this year. We believe our guests deserve to be pampered, and our top notch staff stands ready to make their visit a great one.”

The magazine, which distributes 500,000 copies to members of the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives, sought input from 1.2 million readers in 23 categories about what they like in Kentucky.

 Included among the winners are Lake Cumberland State Resort Park (best outdoor recreation spot); Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park Golf Course and General Burnside Island Golf Course (tie for best golf course); Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park (best walking/running/bicycling trail and best state park); and Natural Bridge State Resort Park (best scenic view).

Other parks that were honored with second- or third-place finishes were Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, General Butler State Resort Park Golf Course, My Old Kentucky Home State Park, and the Pioneer Museum at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park.

Kentucky State Parks have lodges, cottages, restaurants, campgrounds, golf coursesesort Park (best trail and best state park); and Natural Bridge State Resort Park (best scenic view).
