HARRODSBURG, Ky. – Come out to Fort Harrod State Park on July 20 to hear a unique kind of music that dates back to the 1920s and 30s that combines jazz, blues, ragtime and  swing. It’s called jug band music and features guitars, a banjo, trumpet, washtubs, kazoos and of course – a jug.

The Juggernaut Jug Band of Louisville will perform at 7 p.m. at the park’s James Harrod Amphitheater as part of this year’s “James Harrod Entertainment Sampler.”

Admission is $5 a person.

Jug band music flourished along the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Come out and see Mr. Fish, Roscoe, Skip and Smiley perform.

Also planned for the amphitheater is an Aug. 18 Habitat for Humanity Benefit Concert and an Aug. 25 show by the Kentuckians Barbershop Chorus. For more information, call Old Fort Harrod State Park at 859-734-3314.
