FRANKFORT, Ky. – Thousands of eggs will be hidden across Kentucky State Parks next month as the Easter Bunny makes his way across the state.

 

Many state parks will be holding special events during Easter weekend. All 17 resort park restaurants will be serving a special Easter Buffet on April 8. The meal at most parks includes roast beef, country ham, roast leg of spring lamb, golden fried catfish, garden vegetables and more.  The price for adults is $15.95 and children (12 and under) are $6.95 (includes beverage).

Barren River Lake State Resort Park - Easter Egg Hunt – April 7

 

It's an Easter "egg-stravaganza" at the annual Easter Egg Hunt.  The hunt, for youth ages 10 and under, will begin at 1:30 p.m. as Peter Cottontail leads everyone down the bunny trail.  There will be different age groups hunting over 5,000 eggs.  There will be 1st & 2nd place prizes awarded in each age category as well as other prizes in lucky eggs.  All eggs contain a small prize or candy. 800-325-0057.

 

Big Bone Lick State Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 7

 

Hop on down to Big Bone for our annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Our rabbits have hidden thousands of eggs for children of all ages to find.  Bring your biggest baskets to collect as many as you can. Time: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. 859-384-3522.

 

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 7

 

Join the staff of Blue Licks Battlefield for our annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday April 7 at 1 p.m. Over 2,000 eggs will be hidden with age categories for 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Prize eggs for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be available in each age category. 800-443-7008.

 

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park – Spring Weekend– April 6 – 8

 

Friday April 6--Slide presentation on wildflowers, led by John Tierney; Saturday April 7--Trail Walk to spot spring wildflowers; Sunday April 8--Easter buffet followed by an Easter Egg Hunt on the Marina road. 800-325-0058.

 

Carter Caves State Resort Park – Carter Caves Easter Weekend Getaway – April 6 – 7

 

We will have family oriented programs throughout the weekend including a Smokey Lake canoe trip, Tye Dye T-shirts and Saturday evening entertainment.  On Easter, we will be serving our Easter buffet and will have our annual Easter Egg Hunt with over 1,000 Easter eggs for children 12 and under.  Tours of Cascade and X-cave will be on a regular schedule. 800-325-0059.

 

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 8

 

A 1,000-egg hunt for children ages 10 and under with special prize eggs hidden!  The hunt is located behind the Community Pool and the hunt begins at 2:30 p.m. Gates open at 2 p.m.  800-325-0063.

 

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 7

 

Hippety, Hoppety, the Easter bunny is here!  And he's left over 2,000 eggs to be found here in the campground at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park!  Have your baskets ready because the hunt will begin at 10:30 a.m.  The hunt will be divided by age categories: 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-11.  There will be a prize egg in each category.  The Easter Bunny will also make a special appearance at the hunt.  Happy Hunting! E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park – Easter Eggstravaganza – April 7

 

Over 10,000 candy filled eggs will be hidden for children ages 1 to 10 years old. Sections will be divided up for each age group, with 2,500 eggs in each section. Prize eggs will have a ticket inside which can be redeemed for one of several different prizes. The Easter bunny will make an appearance around 12:30 p.m. The egg hunt will begin at 1 p.m. for 2 years of age and under; 1:10 p.m. for 3-4 year olds; 1:20 for 5-7 year olds; and 1:30 for the 8-10 year olds. Fort Boonesborough State Park - Egg-citing Easter Fest – March 29-April 1

 

The Easter bunny will be joining us for a weekend of fun.  We will have bingo, free historic tours, free putt-putt, a camper decoration contest, Easter egg coloring, Easter crafts, Easter egg hunts, a parade, free continental breakfast and of course the kids will want their picture taken with the Easter bunny.  For registered campers only. 859-527-3131.

 

Lake Barkley State Resort Park – Easter Celebration – April 6 – 8

 

The Easter Bunny will again be joining us at Lake Barkley for egg coloring, holiday crafts, souvenir photo opportunities, and an egg hunt of enormous proportion! 800-325-1708.

 

General Burnside Island State Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 7

 

Come join us for an Easter egg hunt for children 12 years and younger. The hunt will begin at 1 p.m.  Register campers only. 606-561-4104.

 

Greenbo Lake State Resort Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 8

 

Easter egg hunt for children 12 years old and younger.  There will be over 1,000 Easter eggs hidden and the hunt begins at 1:30 p.m. in the park’s campground.  Three lucky eggs are also hidden that entitles the finder to a special Easter basket.  Special appearance by the Easter Bunny! 800-325-0083.

 

Jenny Wiley State Resort Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 8

 

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the campground for kids ages 12 and under.  There will be individual areas for different age groups.  Prizes for those lucky kids who find a “special” egg. Meet at the Dance Pad.  The hunt begins at 2 p.m. 800-325-0142.

Lake Cumberland State Resort Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 7

 

Lake Cumberland is having an Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. CST. Ages 5 and below start at 1 p.m. and ages 6-12 will follow.  We will have 3,000 eggs and the Easter Bunny will be on hand to greet the children. 800-325-1709.

 

Levi Jackson State Park – Easter Egg-citement in the Park – April 7

 

Easter Egg-citement in the Park is an eventful day for the whole family.   Parents and children can participate in a scavenger egg hunt that challenges them to search the park for hidden treasures.   Pictures with the Easter bunny and other activities will proceed a children's hunt of thousands of filled eggs for kids 12 and under.  Call the park for more information. 606-330-2130.

 

Old Fort Harrod State Park – Easter Egg Hunt – April 7

 

This is a community Easter egg hunt hosted by the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club.  This event includes pictures with the Easter bunny, discounted rates to Old Fort Harrod for only $1, and of course lots of sweets, treats and games.  The fun begins at noon on the front lawn by the Osage Orange tree.  859-734-3314.

 

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park – Easter Egg-citement Celebration – April 8

 

The celebration will begin with a Easter Buffet at Noon.  Then at 1:30 p.m. have your child's picture taken with the Easter bunny for $1.  At 2:30 p.m. the annual egg hunt begins.  The free egg hunt is divided into 4 age categories; 3 and under, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-13.  Hundreds of eggs will be hidden specifically for each age group.  There will also be several special eggs hidden with tickets for bonus prizes inside.  The buffet will be held in the resort dinning room.  All other activities will be located at the amphitheater (or lodge in the event of inclement weather). 800-325-1711.

 

Rough River Dam State Resort Park – Easter Eggstravaganza – April 8

 

A giant Easter egg hunt located in an area approximately 6 to 8 acres large!  The eggs will be filled with great candy and other surprises too!  Children participating in the egg hunt will be split up into age groups including 1-2, 3-5, 6-8 & 9-11.  There will be other family activities for the kids, discount mini-golf, great prizes and more.The hunt begins at 3 p.m. 800-325-1713.
