Dale Hollow to Host Beginners Caving Weekend Nov. 7-9

BURKESVILLE, Ky. -- Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park will host its first Beginners Caving Expedition on Nov. 7-9, 2008.  Whether you are a beginning spelunker or an experienced caver, you will enjoy this weekend packed full of exploration and education.

Learn the basics of caving and discover many mysteries about the underground world through presentations and hands on experiences. Green River Grotto, Mammoth Cave National Park, and the Kentucky Geological Society will be giving presentations on karsts studies, cave mapping, cave grottos, environmental education, and many other aspects of caves. Guided tours through various caves on the park property, presentations, and children’s activities will be offered.

The fee for the weekend is $25 per adult and $15 per child (ages 6-12).  This fee includes all programs, tours, and a T-shirt.  This is a family oriented weekend geared to those who enjoy adventure.

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park features a lodge, campground and the Island View Restaurant. In addition to boating and fishing on the 28,000 acre lake, activities include golf on the park’s outstanding new course, mini-golf, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and other outdoor diversions.
