Bad to the Bone Duathlon Scheduled For Sept. 19
UNION, Ky. – The Bad to the Bone Duathlon – a race combining running and cycling – will be held Sept. 19 at Big Bone Lick State Park in Boone County.
Participants will run 3.1 miles, then bike 25.3 miles and run the 3.1 miles again. The running course includes level asphalt surfaces and narrow hilly woodland trails. The bike course features beautiful scenery along the Ohio River and some challenging hills named the “evil twins.” That’s why they call it Bad to the Bone.
This race is co-sponsored by the Friends of Big Bone and Big Bone Lick State Park. Proceeds will go to the Friends of Big Bone to support projects at the park, which is known for its fossilized remains of prehistoric animals.
Participants can register by going to this Web site: www.badtothebonerace.com Registration can be done online or by printing a form and mailing it. The fee is $50 before Sept. 1 and $60 through the day of the race at 8 a.m. The race begins at 8:30 a.m.
Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers, age group winners and runners-up and the top team finisher.
