SLADE, Ky. – The 4th Annual Natural Bridge Midwinter Bird Count will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Natural Bridge State Resort Park in Powell County.

The survey starts at 9 a.m. at the Hemlock Lodge and participants can take part as long as they like. No experience is necessary.

You can join park naturalists and experienced birders on hikes through the state park and the adjoining Red River Gorge National Geologic Area. Or you may want to watch the bird feeders from the park’s dining room to help get an estimate of the numbers and species of birds in the area.

Participants should wear warm clothing, bring a pair of binoculars and a field guide if you have one. This event is free but registration is required. Contact Naturalist Noelle Theres at 800-325-1710 or 606-663-2214, extension 2104 or email her at Noelle.theres@ky.gov
