David Miller Named Park Manager at Lake Barkley State Resort Park
FRANKFORT, Ky. -- David Miller is the new manager at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in Cadiz, Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker announced today.
Miller has worked in the hotel business for 17 years, starting as a room service server at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington. He most recently was a regional general manager for Covington-based Commonwealth Hotels and oversaw five hotels in central Kentucky. He had previously served as the general manager for the Hyatt Place in Lexington.
Miller, who grew up in Owensboro, said he enjoys providing “authentic hospitality” to his guests and described the Lake Barkley position as his dream job.
Miller began his new job with state parks on Sept. 1.
Lake Barkley State Resort Park features a lodge, cottages, the Windows on the Water Restaurant, a seasonal campground, 18-hole golf course, fitness center with indoor pool, marina, fishing, tennis courts, hiking trails, gift shop, and recreational and nature programming.
The Kentucky State Park System is composed of 49 state parks plus an interstate park shared with Virginia. The Department of Parks, an agency of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, operates 17 resort parks with lodges -- more than any other state.
