State Park Holiday Closings

FRANKFORT, Ky.Kentucky State Park resorts will be closed during the Christmas holiday.


All resort parks will close Saturday, Dec. 23, following lunch. All except Lake Barkley and Lake Cumberland will reopen for lunch on Friday, Dec. 29. Lake Barkley and Lake Cumberland will reopen for dinner on Dec. 26.


Several resort parks are holding special holiday events during December as well as New Year’s Eve parties. Please visit for details.


State historic sites and recreation parks will also close during the holiday. Times will vary by park. Please check in advance.


State parks are selling Kentucky Unbridled Spirit Gift Cards that make excellent holiday gifts for friends and family. They can be used at state parks, the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington and the Kentucky Historical Society and its museum store in Frankfort.





The Kentucky State Park System is composed of 52 state parks plus an interstate park shared with Virginia. The Department of Parks, an agency of the Commerce Cabinet, operates 17 resort parks with lodges -- more than any other state.
