FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Department of Parks has issued a Request for Expression of Interest to see if there is private-sector interest in building and operating a hotel and convention center at John James Audubon State Park at Henderson.

The purpose is to develop information that would help the park system seek a formal Request for Proposals at this historic park that is vital to the Henderson area.

Parks Commissioner J.T. Miller announced in July that the agency would seek information about possible projects from private developers at several parks. “Our goal is to leverage limited state funds for economic development purposes to attract private investment and create innovative tourism projects,” Miller said.

More information about the request for information is available at https://eprocurement.ky.gov. The deadline for submitting a proposal is Oct. 13.

John James Audubon State Park currently operates six cottages. The park has a museum and nature center, gift shop, 9-hole golf course, hiking trails, campground, and lake. The museum has four galleries that interpret Audubon’s life through his artwork.
