  This week in Buffalo, New York, Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo represented Kentucky at the biannual meeting of the National Lieutenant Governors Association. The conference—which brings together Lieutenant Governors from across the nation—offers the opportunity for these leaders to join in working towards solutions to problems that face individual states, territories and the entire nation. Through panels, discussions and working groups, the Lieutenant Governors are given the opportunity to share ideas and develop innovative strategy to combat tough issues in new, creative ways.
• Lieutenant Governor Mongiardo helps lead National Lieutenant Governors Heart Health Initiative

  Today, Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo launched the Kentucky chapter of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association heart health initiative, Your Heart is in Your Hands. This nationwide effort to improve cardiovascular health has created a simple, effective, online way that individuals can record and compile their nutritional and physical activity in order to reach targeted health & wellness goals.

  Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo joined Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Jon Gassett, Commissioner Dan Glass of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Quail Unlimited Kentucky State Chairman Joe McDonald and renowned wildlife artist Rick Hill this morning to introduce the Commonwealth’s newest specialty license plate recognizing the state’s bobwhite quail restoration efforts.

  Today, Lieutenant Governor Mongiardo and First Lady Jane Beshear celebrated the arrival of the fall season with the kick-off of the Central Kentucky Adventure Tourism initiative at Taylorsville Lake in Taylorsville, Ky. One of several statewide events to promote and raise awareness about the Beshear-Mongiardo Administration’s Adventure Tourism initiative, today’s kick-off was made special through a partnership with the Kentucky Chapter of the American Quarter Horse Association’s annual fall ride, also taking place at the Taylorsville Lake complex.
• Lieutenant Governor Recognizes National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week

  This week, Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo is joining with the Kentucky Commission on Women to recognize National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week, September 8-12. This initiative not only raises awareness about cervical cancer’s unfortunate prevalence in Kentucky, but kicks off a statewide commitment to changing the grade of women’s health in the Commonwealth.
