As you stroll down “Main Street” in the South Wing of the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center at this year’s Kentucky State Fair, the Transportation Cabinet beckons you to experience our display.  It is informative and stimulating at the same time.

The Kentucky Department of Aviation will “spread its wings” with an exhibit which includes a fully computerized flight simulator. From the presentation you’ll gain a much better appreciation of how aviation benefits Kentucky communities large and small.

Kentucky is one of the first states to complete a statewide retrofit of all traffic and pedestrian signals with LED’s, which reduce energy usage at traffic signals by 85 percent. The LED lights are also more visible in all weather conditions, which make intersections that you drive through everyday more safe. LED signal lights will be on display at the cabinet’s booth.

Many intriguing activities are available for kids of all ages at the KEEN Activity Table and you can have your vision tested too. Plus, every visitor to the exhibit will also have an opportunity to be a winner in our prize drawings.

As you might expect, driver safety is also a focal point of the cabinet’s presentation.

“Our emphasis is on increased safety for everyone who travels in Kentucky,”said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “There is no more pressing goal than to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on our roadways.”

With that goal in mind you will find a strong presence from the Transportation Cabinet’s Drive Smart Division (located in the East Wing, next to the John Deere exhibit). There you will find a Rollover Simulator as well as a child passenger safety area for the benefit of curious parents. Many of the Department’s new signs will be on display too, including the “Move Over” signs and the new signs to be displayed at Kentucky State Parks.

Stop by both Transportation Cabinet locations for the fun and great conversation and leave with some potential life-saving information. With “Unbridled Spirit” the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet looks forward to meeting you at the Kentucky State Fair!
