Undergoing preservation as part of Ohio River Bridges Project

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 28, 2011) – High winds from early morning storms in eastern Jefferson County significantly damaged a historic house being preserved as part of the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project.

The 1820s, Greek Revival house, which is known as Rosewell, is on the National Register of Historic Places. It sustained broken windows and major damage to its roof. A number of trees near the house were toppled.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which owns the property under preservation requirements of the Bridges Project, has assigned contractors to temporarily cover the roof and windows to prevent additional water damage. Structural engineers will be called in to assess the integrity of the building.
