Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award $876,367.63 Highway Contract in Scott County


LEXINGTON, KY. (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Scott County.  One contract, totaling $876,367.63, has been approved by the cabinet.


“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “This project is an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”


The project in Scott County includes:

  • Resurfacing of Georgetown Bypass (US 62) from US 25 (MP 7.750) to US 460 (MP 10.641).  Project also includes thermoplastic intersection pavement markings.  Nally & Gibson Georgetown, LLC, has been awarded the $876,367.63 contract.  Completion is scheduled for November 15, 2005.

Scott County is one of 12 counties in District 7. Approximately $4.5 million has been awarded for projects in District 7. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have been authorized. 


“These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public,” said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”


Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
