Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award $769,438 in Highway Contracts in Boone County

 

 

Covington, Kentucky – (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Boone County.  Three contracts totaling $768,438.06 have been approved by the cabinet.

 

“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “These projects are an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”

 

These contracts involve three different asphalt resurfacing projects.  One project will resurface various routes in Boone County.  Eaton Asphalt Paving Co. Inc., of Covington, Kentucky was awarded the low bid contract in the amount of $384,204.00.

 

The second project is asphalt resurfacing on Walton Verona Road from the KY 16 and KY 491 intersection in Verona extending east to Salem Creek Road.  Eaton Asphalt Paving Co., Inc., of Covington, Kentucky was awarded the low bid contract of $116,934.00.

 

The third contract was awarded for asphalt resurfacing and thermoplastic markings will be installed on various sections of US 42 in Boone County.  Eaton Asphalt Paving Co., Inc., of Covington, Kentucky was also awarded the low bid contract of $268,300.06.

 

Boone County is one of eleven counties in District Six. Approximately $12,262,333.59 million has been awarded for projects in District Six during the latest round of contract approvals. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have been authorized. 

 

“These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public,” said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”

 

Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and should be completed by the end of the year. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
