| Louisville, Ky. (April 29, 2005)- Motorists will see a new traffic signal in operation on Monday, May 2, 2005 at the intersection of southbound Interstate 65 exit ramp and KY 245 in Bullitt County. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has installed this new signal which will serve as a part-time signal during daytime hours.
"The traffic signal will operate from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. each day," said Chief District Engineer Barry Sanders. "These are the peak hours for this intersection. During the overnight hours, this signal will operate on flash."
This part-time signal is being installed on an experimental basis. When on flash, the signal will flash yellow for traffic on KY 245 and red for those on the exit ramp from southbound Interstate 65. A sign is installed at the exit ramp, which reads "CROSS TRAFFIC DOES NOT STOP WHEN SIGNAL IS FLASHING." Motorists on the exit ramp when the signal is flashing red should obey the signal as if it were a stop sign. Weather permitting, operation of the new signal will begin on Monday, May 2, 2005.
