Lane and Ramp Closures Scheduled for Interstate 71 in Jefferson County

Louisville, KY (October 6, 2011) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists that construction efforts this weekend on Interstate 71 will include lane and ramp closures. 

Asphalt paving and bridge deck restoration will occur this weekend on Interstate 71 between Interstate 64 in downtown Louisville to Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway). The left lanes of both northbound and southbound I-71 will be closed from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7th until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8th.  The speed limit in this work zone is reduced to 45 MPH.

In addition, the exit ramp from southbound I-71 to westbound I-264 will be closed from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8th until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10th.  Motorists should follow the signed detour via southbound I-265 to westbound I-64 and then reconnect with I-264.
