Lane and Ramp Closures Scheduled for Interstate 71

Louisville, KY (September 22, 2011) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists that construction efforts this weekend on Interstate 71 in Jefferson County will include lane and ramp closures. 

Asphalt paving and bridge deck restoration will occur this weekend on Interstate 71 between Interstate 64 in downtown Louisville to Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway). The right lanes of both northbound and southbound I-71 will be closed from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23rd until 6:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26th.  The speed limit in this work zone is reduced to 45 MPH.

In addition, the exit ramp from southbound I-71 to westbound I-264 will be closed during this same weekend time frame.  Motorists should follow the signed detour via southbound I-265 to westbound I-64 and then reconnect with I-264.  This ramp is also scheduled for closure the weekend of September 30th – October 3rd.
