ROADSHOW for the week beginning September 12, 2011


Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may occur, so the information below is strictly of an advisory nature and is subject to change with no notice.


Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night.  Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance and pavement marking crews on interstates and highways throughout the rest of the district on a daily basis.

Jefferson County:
Southbound Interstate 65:  Right lane will be closed on the John F. Kennedy Bridge over the Ohio River (mile points 136.7 and 137.7) due to bridge inspection.  This lane closure is scheduled for Monday, September 12th from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  In addition, the exit ramps from southbound I-65 to both eastbound and westbound I-64 will be closed from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Monday as part of the inspection process.

Interstate 265:  Lane closures and delays possible between Taylorsville Road and Interstate 64 (mile points 23.1 and 25.4) due to roadway resurfacing.  Lane closures are possible in the evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

Northbound Interstate 65:  Exit ramp to westbound I-64 will be closed for bridge deck patching.  This ramp closure is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13th and Thursday, September 15th.  The ramp will be closed each evening from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.

Interstate 64:  Lane closures and delays possible between I-65 and the Cochran Hill Tunnels (mile points 4.9 and 8.40) due to roadway resurfacing.  Lane closures are possible Sunday – Thursday from 10:00 p.m. each evening until 6:00 a.m. the following morning and Friday- Saturday from 10:00 p.m. each evening until 9:00 a.m. the following morning.

Westbound Interstate 264:  Lane closures and delays possible between Manslick Road and Taylor Boulevard (mile points 8.13 and 9.1) due to sound barrier installation.  Lane closures are possible evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. 

Southbound Interstate 71:  Roadway will be reduced to one lane between Interstate 64 and Interstate 264 (mile points 0.0 and 5.5) due to roadway resurfacing and bridge deck repairs.  The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 45 MPH.  The exit ramp from southbound I-71 to Zorn Avenue (Exit 2) and the entrance ramp from Zorn Avenue to northbound I-71 will be closed from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9th until 6:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12th.
 
Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway):  Construction delays possible in both directions between Interstate 64 and US 60 (mile points 25.4 and 26.7) due to interchange improvements.  Lane closures are possible on weeknights from 8:00 p.m. each evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.  On weekends, lane and ramp closures are possible from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, until 5:00 a.m. on Monday.  The speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 55 MPH.  Motorists should watch for construction trucks and other equipment entering and exiting the roadway from behind the barrier wall. 

Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway):  Lane closures and delays possible in both directions between Dixie Highway and Preston Highway (mile points 8.0 and 12.7) due to concrete repairs and diamond grinding on this section of roadway.  Lane and ramp closures are possible on weeknights Monday – Friday from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. The exit ramp from southbound I-65 to eastbound I-264 and the entrance ramp from KY 61 (Preston Highway) to eastbound I-264 will both be closed from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16th until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19th.

Northbound US 31:  Right lane will be closed on the Indiana approach of the Clark Memorial Bridge (mile point 1.1) due to sidewalk repairs.  This lane closure is scheduled for Monday, September 12th and Tuesday, September 13th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day.

US 31E (Bardstown Road):  Roadway will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the bridge over Floyd’s Fork (mile point 0.08) near the Jefferson/Bullitt County line.  Lane closures are scheduled from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9th until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12th and again from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16th until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19th.

US 31E (Bardstown Road):  Construction delays possible in both directions between I-265 and Cedar Look Drive (mile points 4.7 and 5.3) due to ramp improvements.  The roadway may be reduced to one lane in each direction weeknights Monday – Thursday from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning. On weekends, lane closures are possible from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone. Shoulder closures possible on the ramps to I-265.  Motorists should watch for construction trucks and other equipment entering and exiting the roadway from behind the barrier wall. 

KY 22:  Lane closures and delays possible between Chamberlain Lane and Murphy Lane (mile points 4.0 and 5.6) due to roadway widening.  Lane closures are possible evenings from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

KY 1142 (Palatka Road):  Lane closures and delays possible between St. Andrews Church Road and Southside Drive (mile points 0.0 and 1.7) due to roadway resurfacing.  Lane closures are possible evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

KY 1931 (St. Andrews Church Road):  Lane closures and delays possible from US 31W (Dixie Highway) to Arnoldtown Road (mile points 3.1 and 4.1) due to roadway resurfacing.  Lane closures are possible evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

KY 1931 (Seventh Street):  Lane closures and delays possible between Berry Boulevard and Algonquin Parkway (mile points 8.5 and 10.5) due to roadway resurfacing.  Lane closures are possible weekdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and weeknights from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. 


Bullitt County:
Interstate 65:  Shoulder closures and delays possible between mile point s 103.8 and 109.36 due to media cable barrier installation. 

KY 480 (Cedar Grove Road):  Construction delays possible between Interstate 65 and Cedar Grove Elementary School (mile points 1.0 and 2.0) due to roadway widening.

KY 61:  Roadway is reduced to one lane at the bridge over the Salt River (mile point 14.0) due to bridge deck restoration.  Work will continue through September.  Traffic is being controlled by a temporary signal.

KY 3219 (Chapeze Lane):  Roadway will be closed to through traffic between the Interstate 65 overpass and Kool Springs Drive (mile points 0.6 and 1.0) due to cross-drain replacement.   This closure is scheduled for Saturday, September 17th from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Local access will be allowed.


Franklin County:
Interstate 64:  Shoulder closures and delays possible between mile point 57.2 in Franklin County and mile point 65.7 in Woodford County due to media cable barrier installation.

KY 1263 (Big Eddy Road):  Roadway is closed at mile point 3 due to a rock slide.  Repairs scheduled for this fall.

Shelby County:
Interstate 64:  Construction delays possible between the Jefferson/Shelby County line and the Simpsonville exit (mile points 23.2 to 28.1) due to roadway widening.  The speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone.  Westbound motorists should exercise caution due to divided lanes and limited shoulders at bridges.  The Cabinet’s Division of Motor Carriers has restricted over dimensional loads to a maximum width of 12 feet.  Westbound traffic must stay in the right lane when attempting to use exit 28.  Connor Station Road in Shelby County is closed at the I-64 overpass and should reopen at the end of the month.  A signed detour is posted.

KY 395:  Construction delays possible just north of Interstate 64 at the Flying J Truck Stop (mile point 8.6) due to roadway realignment.

Spencer County:
Routine maintenance

Trimble County:
US 421:  Roadway will be reduced to one lane on the bridge over the Ohio River (mile points 18.7 to 19.2) due to bridge inspection.  This lane closure is scheduled for Wednesday, September 14th from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
