Roadway Improvements to Begin on KY 395 in Shelby County
Louisville, KY (June 9, 2011) - The Department of Highways District 5 Office advises motorists to be aware of impending construction on KY 395 at the entrance to the Flying J Truck Stop near Interstate 64 (mile point 8.5). Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 13th to improve safety by realigning the roadway.
Highway safety improvement funds are being utilized to improve the vertical and horizontal curve north of the Flying J Truck Stop. A left turn lane will also be constructed for motorists traveling south on KY 395 and entering the truck stop.
ASL Excavating, Inc. of Flemingsburg, KY was awarded the contract for this project in the amount of $827,459. The work is scheduled for completion by November 15, 2011.
As part of this project, KY 395 will be closed just north of the Flying J Truck Stop entrance and extending north approximately 1200 feet. Traffic traveling north on KY 395 will be able to access the truck stop. The closure is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 17th at 8:00 a.m. and will continue for 30 days. Motorists traveling on KY 395 between US 60 and I-64 will need to follow the signed detour.
At all other times during construction, the roadway may be reduced to one lane in the evenings from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
