State reopens I-65 rest areas in Hart County
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (July 23, 2010) — Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials today reopened the Interstate 65 rest areas in Hart County.
The facilities were closed July 16 after the cabinet terminated a contract for janitorial services. A new contract is expected to be effective Aug. 9.
In the interim, the cabinet retained a temporary employment service to provide around-the-clock staffing for the north- and southbound facilities.
“Our Hart County rest areas provide an important service for motorists traveling along I-65,” Patty Dunaway, chief engineer for the Elizabethtown highway district, said. “The Transportation Cabinet is working to ensure that our rest areas retain the quality that travelers from across the country have consistently recognized as outstanding.”
