  • Reconstructed segment of KY 699 in Perry County now open to traffic

    A new segment of KY 699 in Perry County in the Leatherwood area is now open to traffic after being reconstructed in a unique public-private endeavor. The new alignment replaces a stretch of old highway, approximately two miles long, that was crooked, narrow, and had several breaks and embankment failures. This new segment is built to modern standards and has wider lanes and a less steep grade than the road it replaced.
  • New KY 52 Beattyville bypass open to traffic

    The new routing of KY 52 in Beattyville, bypassing downtown, is now open to traffic. Although construction is not complete, the project is at a point where drivers can now use the new facility. As a result of the road being opened to through traffic, some traffic patterns that were in use during construction have changed.
  • Wolfe Countians invited to learn more about Mountain Parkway widening project

    Wolfe County residents who want to learn more about the major widening project now underway on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway will have an opportunity to do so on Monday, Oct. 20. The Wolfe County Kiwanis Club will host representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and others involved with the $48 million project during their regular meeting on Oct. 20. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Wolfe County Public Library, and members of the general public are invited and encouraged to attend to hear an update on the project.
  • Corridors for possible KY 715 improvements unveiled during Wolfe County public meeting

    Approximately 130 Wolfe County residents and local officials attended a public informational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7, concerning possible improvements to KY 715 in Wolfe County. Those attending the meeting at Rogers Elementary School were given information on the proposed project by representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Wilbur Smith Associates, the cabinet’s engineering consultants.
  • Wolfe County, area residents invited to attend second public meeting on improvements to KY 715

    Residents of Wolfe and nearby counties are invited to attend a second public informational meeting to discuss proposed highway improvements along the KY 715 corridor between KY 11 at Zachariah and the Mountain Parkway at Pine Ridge. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rogers Elementary School, 1750 KY 715, Rogers.
  • Closure of Old KY 15 bridge near Vancleve delayed until Tuesday, Sept. 2

    As part of a project to clean, paint and repair a number of bridges along the KY 15 corridor in Breathitt, Knott and Perry counties, the bridge carrying Old KY 15 across Frozen Creek near Vancleve in Breathitt County will be closed beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2. The bridge is located adjacent to the KY 541 intersection.
  • KY 705 in Morgan County to be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 10

    Personnel from the Kentucky Department of Highways, Morgan County Maintenance, will replace a drainage pipe on KY 705 on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The work will take place near mile marker 13. The project will begin around 9 a.m. and will continue until approximately 1 p.m. During this time, the road will be closed to through traffic.
  • Old KY 15 bridge near Vancleve to be closed for repairs beginning Monday, Aug. 25

    As part of a project to clean, paint and repair a number of bridges along the KY 15 corridor in Breathitt, Knott and Perry counties, the bridge carrying Old KY 15 across Frozen Creek near Vancleve in Breathitt County will be closed beginning Monday, Aug. 25. The bridge is located adjacent to the KY 541 intersection.
  • KY 846 in Owsley County to be closed for repairs on Saturday, Aug. 30

    Personnel from the Kentucky Department of Highways, Owsley County Maintenance, will replace a culvert on KY 846 on Saturday, Aug. 30. The work will take place near mile marker 1.0. The project will begin around 8 a.m. and will continue until approximately 4 p.m. During this time, the road will be closed to through traffic and motorists should plan their trips accordingly.
  • Work to begin this week on bridge repairs on Hal Rogers Parkway in Perry County

    Work will begin this week on a project to replace the deck and make repairs to the bridge carrying the Hal Rogers Parkway across KY 80 and Big Creek at milepoint 55.97 in Perry County. During this project, traffic will be reduced to one 11-foot lane on the bridge and will be controlled by signals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Drivers should be alert for lane shifts and tapers approaching the project area.
  • Work to begin Monday on KY 11/KY 52 North Fork bridge repairs in Beattyville

    Work will begin Monday, Aug. 4, on a project to replace the deck and make repairs to the bridge carrying KY 11 and KY 52 over the North Fork of the Kentucky River in Beattyville. During this project, traffic will be reduced to one lane on the bridge and will be controlled by signals 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Emergency road aid funds awarded to Menifee County

    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet today announced that the Menifee County Fiscal Court will receive $75,000 in County Road Aid emergency funds for repairs to various county roads damaged by spring flooding.
  • ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: KY 191 in Morgan County to be closed on Thursday, July 24

    Personnel from the Kentucky Department of Highways, Morgan County Maintenance, will replace a drainage pipe on KY 191 on Thursday, July 24. The work will take place near mile marker 7, near Caney. The project will begin around 9 a.m. and will continue until approximately 5 p.m. During this time, the road will be closed to through traffic.
