- Railroad crossing repairs to force closures of two Breathitt County roads next week
Friday, October 30, 2009 CSX Transportation will be repairing two railroad crossings in Breathitt County next week, requiring daytime closures of two state highways. On Monday, Nov. 2, KY 52 will be closed from 8 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. at milepoint 3.123 near Oakdale. This will impact travel between Beattyville and Jackson. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, KY 541 (War Creek Road) will be closed from 8 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. at milepoint 0.06 near Chenowee.
- Traffic pattern changes planned for KY 15-KY 267 intersection in Perry County
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 21, changes will be made to the traffic patterns at the intersection of KY 15 and KY 267 near Bonnyman in Perry County.
With the paving of Safeway Road, which runs under the KY 15 bridge and connects to KY 267 on each end, all left turns at this intersection will be prohibited.
- Motorists advised to look out for deer
Friday, October 16, 2009 The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is reminding motorists that deer become a greater roadway hazard this time of year as mating season arrives. Each year the mating season, which lasts from October through December, accounts for a spike in deer-related crashes in the commonwealth.
- Year-long closure of KY 1274 begins Wednesday, Oct. 14
Thursday, October 08, 2009 Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14, KY 1274 in Menifee County will be closed between milepoints 6.5 and 8.0 for a rockfall mitigation project. The closure is expected to last approximately one year.
- Traffic pattern change planned for High Street in Hazard
Thursday, October 08, 2009 Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13, a portion of High Street (KY 2451) in Hazard will change from one-way traffic to two-way traffic.
- Transportation Cabinet conducts public meeting on proposed improvements to Mountain Parkway Exit 18 in Clay City
Wednesday, September 16, 2009 On Tuesday, Sept. 15, personnel from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 10 office conducted a public hearing on the proposed improvements to Exit 18 of the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway in Powell County.
Approximately 20 residents of the area, public officials and other concerned citizens attended the meeting at the Clay City Elementary School to view a presentation by District 10 personnel and project consultants and receive information on the project.
- District 10 employees ‘saddle up’ their snowplows and backhoes for Equipment Roadeo
Friday, September 04, 2009 Employees from all 10 counties in the Department of Highways District 10 got together at the district's equipment garage in Beattyville on Wednesday, Sept. 2 for friendly competition, fun and fellowship at the district's annual Equipment Roadeo.
- Lee County Department of Highways employees recognized for efforts fighting recent Beattyville fire
Friday, September 04, 2009 Nine employees from the Kentucky Department of Highways Lee County Maintenance crew were honored Wednesday for their efforts in helping battle an Aug. 13 blaze in Beattyville that destroyed three businesses and threatened several others.
Commissions as Kentucky Colonels were presented to the employees during the District 10 Equipment Roadeo held Sept. 2 at the Beattyville Equipment Garage.
- Powell County, area residents invited to attend public meeting on improvements to Mountain Parkway Exit 18
Thursday, September 03, 2009 Residents of Powell and nearby counties are invited to attend a public informational meeting to discuss a project to add an eastbound exit ramp and a westbound entrance ramp to the partial interchange at Exit 18 on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway at Clay City.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Clay City Elementary School, 4901 Main Street, Clay City.
- Transportation Cabinet conducts public hearing on proposed widening of Mountain Parkway in Wolfe, Morgan and Magoffin counties
Friday, August 28, 2009 On Thursday, Aug. 27, personnel from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 10 office conducted a public hearing on the proposed widening of the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway to four lanes along a 17-mile stretch through Wolfe, Morgan and Magoffin counties.
Approximately 175 residents of the area, public officials and other concerned citizens attended the hearing at the Lakeview Church of God in Magoffin County to view a presentation by District 10 personnel and project consultants, receive information on the project, and provide their input into this proposed highway project.
- KY 378 in Magoffin County to be closed Wednesday, Aug. 26
Monday, August 17, 2009 Personnel from the Kentucky Department of Highways, Magoffin County Maintenance, will replace a drainage pipe on KY 378 on Wednesday, Aug. 26. The work will take place at milepoint 8.1. The project will begin around 8 a.m. and will continue until approximately 3 p.m. During this time, the road will be closed to through traffic.
- Closures scheduled for three Owsley County roads
Friday, August 14, 2009 Three road closures have been scheduled in Owsley County in order to allow Kentucky Department of Highways personnel to make repairs. Routes affected are KY 708 and KY 1350 on Saturday, Aug. 22, and KY 2024 on Saturday, Aug. 29. Each closure will begin at approximately 8 a.m. and will last until approximately 2 p.m. At each of these locations, new drainage pipes will be installed.
- Installation of new railroad crossing to force two-day closure of KY 451
Friday, August 14, 2009 Beginning Monday, Aug. 17, KY 451 in Perry County near the Home Lumber Bridge will be closed for two days for installation of a new railroad crossing.
The closures will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
- Transportation Cabinet schedules Aug. 27 public hearing to discuss Mountain Parkway widening project
Friday, August 14, 2009 Residents of Magoffin, Morgan and Wolfe counties are invited to attend a public hearing to discuss a project to widen the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway to four lanes between Exit 57 at Helechawa in Wolfe County and Exit 75 near Salyersville in Magoffin County.
The hearing will be held Thursday, Aug. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lakefront Church of God on KY 134 in Magoffin County. The site is accessible from the Mountain Parkway via its intersection with KY 134 between mile markers 67 and 68.
- Detours put in place for KY 11/KY 15 closure in Stanton
Tuesday, July 28, 2009 Detour routes have been determined for the week-long closure of KY 11/KY 15 (College Avenue) in Stanton. This is related to the project to widen and improve KY 213 (Main Street) in Stanton.
- Temporary detour in place for KY 7 in construction zone
Tuesday, July 28, 2009 For approximately the next three months, traffic along KY 7 in Perry County through the construction zone between Jeff and Viper will be using a temporary detour.
- Intersection of KY 11/KY 15 and KY 213 in Stanton to be closed one week for construction
Monday, July 27, 2009 Beginning Monday, Aug. 10, the intersection of KY 11/KY 15 (College Avenue) and KY 213 (Main Street) in Stanton will be closed for construction.The closure will last one week.
- KY 30 in Magoffin County to be closed for brush removal
Monday, July 27, 2009 KY 30 in Magoffin County will be closed to through trafficduring working hours on Wednesday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Aug. 7, for removal of debris from this past winter’s ice storm.
- Ramp from Spur KY 15 to Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County to close for two weeks beginning Monday, Aug. 3
Thursday, July 23, 2009 Beginning Monday, Aug. 3, the ramp from northbound Spur KY 15 to the Mountain Parkway westbound north of Campton will be closed for appoximately two weeks. During this time, the old bridge carrying the ramp over the Mountain Parkway will be demolished, and the approaches to the new bridge for the ramp will be completed.
- Weight limit on KY 451 bridge at Glomawr reduced to 15 tons
Monday, June 22, 2009 The Kentucky Department of Highways has reduced the weight limit on the bridge carrying KY 451 over the North Fork of the Kentucky River at Glomawr in Perry County to 15 tons, effective immediately.
