- Traffic Changes on U.S. 45/N. 8th Street in Paducah
Friday, November 04, 2005 Paducah, KY – (November 3, 2005) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways is completing work on new pedestrian crosswalks and parking restrictions in the 800 and 900 block of U.S. 45 (North 8th Street) on Paducah’s North side near Anderson Court Apartments. The changes came out of a traffic study of the area following the death of a child at the site in May.
- Public Meeting Set for U.S. 68/KY 80 Aurora to Cadiz Corridor
Friday, November 04, 2005 Paducah, KY (October 31, 2005) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways has scheduled an informal format public hearing on the reconstruction of U.S. 68/KY 80 from Aurora to Cadiz. The public hearing is set for December 5th, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in meeting room A at Kenlake State Resort Park at Aurora.
- John Puryear Bridge Safety Shield Installed
Thursday, October 20, 2005 Paducah, KY (October 17, 2005) – A bridge maintenance crew expects to complete the installation of a safety shield on piers of the John Puryear Bridge on Paducah’s Southside in the next two weeks. The sheet metal shield is being attached along the top of the bridge pier caps to catch any additional concrete that may chip off the diaphragm panels above the piers in the future.
- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Installs New LED Signs On U.S. 60 Rosebud Hill in Crittenden County
Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Paducah, KY (August 16, 2005) – Traffic Engineers from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways have installed new LED (light emitting diode) warning lights on U.S. 60 along Rosebud Hill. Northbound, there is a warning sign at the top of the hill near the 18 mile marker. Southbound, there is a sign near the 19.5 mile point.
- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and State Park Officials Team Up to Encourage Visitors to “Drive Smart”
Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Gilbertsville, KY –(August 12, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and the Kentucky Department of Parks are teaming up to promote driver safety. A new “Drive Smart” sign is now installed at the exit of Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park to promote safety belt use.
- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Completes Study of New U.S. 641 Corridor in Caldwell and Lyon
Friday, September 23, 2005 The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways has completed a corridor study for the location of the new U.S. 641 from Fredonia to Eddyville.

Friday, September 23, 2005 Each year during “scrub week” Kentucky Adopt-A-Highway volunteer crews spread out across the state to clear Kentucky roadsides of litter. From time to time they discover something other than litter.
- Crittenden County to Get New Historic Marker
Monday, September 19, 2005 The Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Department of Transportation are teaming up to see that a part of Crittenden County history is not forgotten. Saturday an official historic marker will be dedicated as a reminder that Piney Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church is considered the first Presbyterian Church in Kentucky.
- Weight Limit Restrictions Placed on U.S. 60 Green River Bridge at Spottsville
Thursday, September 15, 2005 The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Department of Highways has placed a 15 ton (30,000 pound) weight restriction on the U.S. 60 Green River Bridge at Spottsville in Henderson County. The weight restriction was posted after inspectors spent three days evaluating the bridge earlier this week.
- Kentucky and Indiana Team Up for Cooperative Inspection of Ohio River Bridges in Area
Thursday, September 15, 2005 The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Department of Highways and the Indiana Department of Transportation will conduct routine cooperative safety inspections of several Ohio River Bridges the week of September 19-23, 2005.

Monday, August 22, 2005 The use of traffic roundabouts are fairly common in Europe, but until recently have been rarely used in the U.S. The improved traffic flow and safety provided by roundabout intersections has prompted their increased use on American roads.
- KY Department of Highways Seeking New Home for Happy Chandler Monument
Friday, August 19, 2005 The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways is seeking a new home for Henderson County’s Happy Chandler Monument. The U.S. 60 Corridor Safety Task Team has recommended the large stone monument on the shoulder of U.S. 60 just north of Corydon be moved as part of a list of safety improvements. Highway officials are seeking public input to help find an appropriate location.
- Ballard Co. High U.S. 60 Turn Lane Ready for Back to School
Wednesday, August 10, 2005 A turn lane at the entrance to the Ballard County High School on U.S. 60 is ready for back to school traffic. Engineers for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways and H & G Construction Company accelerated work on the $229,000 project to improve safety at the school complex entrance.

Thursday, August 04, 2005 Madisonville, KY – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Drive Smart Program want to remind motorists to be alert as more than 650,000 Kentucky students and almost 41,000 Kentucky teachers head back to school.
- Governor Fletcher and Transportation Cabinet Announce Start of U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road Work
Friday, July 29, 2005 Paducah, KY– Work is scheduled to begin next week on almost $1 million in improvements to U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road south of Paducah. The project is among $167 million in road improvements recently awarded by Governor Fletcher and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. It was among five contracts totaling $9.5 million awarded in McCracken County.
- Governor Fletcher and Transportation Cabinet Announce Start of Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway Improvements
Thursday, July 28, 2005 Hopkinsville, KY -- Work is scheduled to begin Sunday on an almost $4 million upgrade of the Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway northbound lanes in Christian County. The project is among a record $167 million in road improvement projects awarded recently by Governor Fletcher and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
- Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award Highway Improvement Contracts in McCracken County
Monday, July 11, 2005 The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Western Kentucky and McCracken County. Five contracts, totaling $9.5 million, have been approved by the cabinet, in McCracken County.
- Highway Engineers to Accelerate Turn Lane Project for KY 998/Olivet Church Road
Thursday, June 09, 2005 Engineers for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways are cooperating with the Paducah City Engineering Department to accelerate design work for a turn lane on KY 998/Olivet Church Road at the rear entrance to the Kentucky Oaks Mall. The project is being put on a fast track to aid anticipated traffic flow following completion of a new railroad bridge and widening of Olivet Church Road from the James-Sanders Boulevard intersection to KY 305/Old Cairo Road near Interstate 24 Exit 3.
