Court of Justice Web site offers valuable guide to Kentucky’s court system at

FRANKFORT, Ky., Sept. 2, 2003 . When the Kentucky Court of Justice unveiled a new Web presence,, in 2002, the public gained online access to a wide range of court-related information, including court dockets, electronic forms, searchable opinions, court publications and contact information for court personnel, according to Cicely Jaracz Lambert, director of the Administrative Office of the Courts, the operations arm of the Kentucky Court of Justice.

"The Judicial Branch is one of Kentucky's three branches of government, but is often misunderstood," said Lambert. "We want our Web site to be a resource citizens can use to gain a better understanding of how our court system serves the public," said Lambert.

The Web site is updated daily and provides information for each division of the Kentucky Court of Justice:

Supreme Court: This section includes a description of the Supreme Court, biographies of the justices, a map of districts, contact information, rules of court, case information, the court calendar, Supreme Court minutes, and published (since 1999) and nonpublished (since 2003) opinions.

Court of Appeals: This section provides a description of the court, biographies of the judges, a map of districts, contact information, and published (since 2003) and nonpublished (since 2003) opinions.

Circuit Court and District Court: This section includes a description of each court, including Family Court and Drug Court; contact information for judges; local rules of practice; and how to obtain emergency protective orders and domestic violence protocols. A six-day docket is available for each county.

Circuit Court Clerks: This section describes the role of the circuit court clerk and gives contact information for each office. It also lists the hours of operation, directions, parking, types of payment accepted, docket information and drivers licensing hours for all 120 Kentucky counties.

Administrative Office of the Courts: This drop-down menu provides information on each AOC department.

General: This section provides contact information for all court officials, online court forms, a glossary of legal terms, an organizational chart and news releases.

Juror Information: Information on jury service is one of the tabs at the top of each page. The other tabs are Help, Frequently Asked Questions, Online Services, Search and Contact Us.

The Administrative Office of the Courts supports the activities of more than 3,300 Kentucky Court of Justice employees, including the elected offices of justices, judges and circuit court clerks. The AOC serves as the fiscal agent for the Kentucky Court of Justice and is under the direction of Chief Justice of Kentucky Joseph E. Lambert and Director Cicely Jaracz Lambert.
