- Kentucky’s Cultural District Certifications to be announced
Monday, February 06, 2012 First Lady Jane Beshear and Madeline Abramson, wife of Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson, will announce the five communities receiving Kentucky Cultural District Certification at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in the State Reception Room on the mezzanine level of the Capitol.

- Kentucky Arts Council receives grant from National Arts and Disability Center
Tuesday, January 24, 2012 The Kentucky Arts Council has been awarded a $12,000 grant to produce statewide activities promoting careers in the arts for artists with disabilities. The arts council will partner with other statewide organizations and agencies including VSA Kentucky, the Kentucky Center and the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 Do you know someone or an organization deserving of the Commonwealth’s highest honor in the arts? The Kentucky Arts Council is accepting nominations for the 2012 Governor’s Awards in the Arts until March 1.

Thursday, January 05, 2012 Young musicians ages 15–20 are eligible to apply for the highly competitive Kennedy Center/National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Summer Music Institute. The deadline has been extended to Feb. 20, 2012.

Wednesday, January 04, 2012 The Kentucky Arts Council presents an exhibit of artwork, “Commissioned to Create: Works by Artists who Created the Governor’s Awards (1993-2011).” The awards, along with other artwork created by this distinguished group of Kentucky artists, will be on display Jan. 9 - April 15, 2012.

Wednesday, January 04, 2012 The Kentucky Arts Council has awarded $25,380 in Teacher Initiated Program grants for 47 weeks’ worth of short-term artist residencies scheduled to take place in the spring of 2012.

- Public Value Report demonstrates nonprofit arts contributions to Kentucky
Thursday, December 01, 2011 The Kentucky Arts Council’s investment of $1.7 million in operational support for nonprofit arts organizations in Kentucky produced significant returns in tax revenues, jobs, education services and tourism development. The first Public Value Report produced by the arts council features data collected from 89 of the 93 arts organizations that received funding through the state agency’s Kentucky Arts Partnership grants for the period of July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011.

Friday, October 28, 2011 The Kentucky Arts Council has selected 21 high schools to participate in the state competition for the Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. This is the seventh year of the program, which encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation.

The Governor’s Awards in the Arts presentation and reception will be Oct. 20, 10 a.m. EDT, in the Capitol Rotunda, Frankfort.
